Ginger soda
Ginger soda is a non-alcoholic carbonated beverage that is made by mixing ginger juice or ginger extract with carbonated water and sweeteners.
You can also add ingredients such as lemon juice, honey, or mint to enhance the flavour.
Ginger helps relieve symptoms associated with pregnancy - it is often used to help soothe an upset stomach or to relieve nausea.. Sipping on cold ginger ale or adding a slice of raw ginger to water or tea may help sooth your stomach.
Ingredients
1 cup of grated fresh ginger
1 cup of sugar
4 cups of water
1 cup of carbonated water
Lemon juice or honey (optional)
In a medium saucepan, combine the grated ginger, sugar, and 4 cups of water.
Bring the mixture to a boil and then reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 20 minutes.
Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve to remove the ginger solids.
Allow the ginger syrup to cool completely.
In a glass filled with ice, add 2-3 tablespoons of the ginger syrup and fill it with carbonated water.
Add a splash of lemon juice or honey (optional) for added flavour.
Stir and enjoy!
You can adjust the amount of ginger syrup to your taste and you can store the syrup in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. The ginger soda can be enjoyed plain or with a splash of lime, lemon, or mint for added flavour.
