Avocado toast

A simple and delicious dish perfect for as a breakfast dish, snack or light meal. The creamy texture of avocado pairs well with the crispy texture of toasted bread, creating a satisfying and nutritious dish

Avocados are safe to add into your diet during pregnancy as they contain high amounts of the key nutrients needed to support a healthy pregnancy, including folate and potassium.

Ingredients

  • 1 ripe avocado

  • 2 slices of bread

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • Olive oil or butter (optional)


Cut the avocado in half, remove the pit, and scoop out the flesh into a bowl.

  1. Mash the avocado with a fork or a potato masher.

  2. Toast the bread to your desired level of doneness.

  3. Spread the mashed avocado on top of the toasted bread.

  4. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  5. Optional : Drizzle with olive oil or butter, if desired.

You can add other ingredients such as garlic, lemon juice, or red pepper flakes to make it more flavourful. Some popular variations include adding ingredients such as tomatoes, eggs, bacon, or smoked salmon to the toast.
