The seven chakras are energy centres in the body located along the spinal column, regulating physical and emotional well-being. When out of balance, they can affect nearby organs, bones, joints and tissues.
The word "chakra" means "wheel" or "circle" and there are 114 chakras in the body, arranged in seven dimensions:
Crown chakra
The Sahasrara chakra, or Crown chakra, is located at the top of your head.
It is associated with the colours violet/white and is said to represent one's spiritual connection to oneself, others, and the u1niverse.
It plays a role in spiritual enlightenment and is related to one's sense of purpose in life.
third eye chakra
The Ajna chakra, also known as the Third Eye chakra, is located in the centre of your forehead, between your eyebrows. It is associated with the colour indigo and governs intuition, wisdom, and psychic abilities.
This chakra is considered to be linked to the ability of imagination.
throat chakra
The Vishuddha chakra, also known as the Throat chakra, is located at the base of your throat. It is associated with the colour blue and governs verbal communication, self-expression and authenticity.
It is also related to the idea of speaking one's truth.
heart chakra
The Anahata chakra, also known as the Heart chakra, is located in the centre of your chest, near your heart. It is associated with the colour green, and governs love, empathy and forgiveness and healing.
It is related to one's ability to show love and compassion.
solar plexus chakra
The Manipura chakra, also known as the Solar Plexus chakra, is located in your stomach area above your navel. It is associated with the colour yellow and governs self-esteem, personal power, and self-discipline.
It is related to one's sense of confidence and control over their life.
sacral chakra
The Svadhisthana chakra, also known as the Sacral chakra, is located just below your navel. It is associated with the colour orange and governs emotions, sexuality, and our creative energy.
It is related to our connection to our emotions, and the emotions of others.
rooot chakra
The Muladhara chakra, also known as the Root chakra, is located at the base of your spine. It is associated with the colour red and provides a foundation for life. It helps one to feel grounded and stable. It governs one's sense of security, stability, and belonging.
It is related to the ideas of survival and connection to the earth.
