Snowflake Obsidian
Snowflake Obsidian is a type of obsidian, a naturally occurring volcanic glass, characterised by the presence of white "snowflake-like" crystal patterns on its black surface. The white patterns are created by the presence of Cristobalite, a type of mineral that forms in the glass as it cools. Obsidian is formed from volcanic lava that cools and solidifies quickly, trapping minerals and other inclusions within it. Snowflake Obsidian is considered a variety of black obsidian and is prized for its unique appearance and usually mined in Mexico.
